Ended up drifting in Tokyo over the break. Don't have any damage to the car-fucking weird. Guess I'm getting better at it. Finished a few computer jobs, got a better stereo system, and threw out a bunch of crappy CDs that decided to find their way into my baby. Stupid techno clubbing shit.

And the idiots keep streaming in to the shop. Thought they'd disappear when exams ended, but no. Had to clear a virus off of a computer-no big deal, but the guy asked me if he had to let his computer rest for a couple of days to "make sure it was feeling better." It's a piece of machinery, you twit!

Taking a few CS courses this summer. Maybe I should just make it a double major.

Dropped by the shop this weekend to see how my car's looking. It sucks not having one, but it's starting to look sweet. Muro, your crew rocks! I got another discount because, as the engine guy put it, "not being stupid and actually using the car." When's Karasu going out again, anyway?

Woman came in today, complaining that her laptop's mouse was broken because it couldn't make up and down movements. Brand new laptop, just bought it from us. And there's been complaints about that mouse before. So okay, no problem. I hook it up to her laptop and test it, fine. So I give it to her to test.

She tells me again that it's not working for up or down movements.

...Because to move the cursor up, she was literally LIFTING THE MOUSE INTO THE AIR.

This sucks. I hate to admit it, but Kouhei's my only friend here. If I have to spend another Saturday night in, I will scream.

At least I'm getting a lot of work done on my computer.

People are stupid and should not be allowed around computers. Normally I deal with basic stuff-installing memory, new motherboards, and troubleshooting. Mindless crap. And then I have people come in like the guy I had today. He brings in this laptop and drops it on the counter and complained that his keyboard isn't working. Conversation went something like this:

Me: (turning the computer on) Okay, so what's the problem with the keyboard?
Man: It won't let me type in my password. (gives password to me)
Me: (puts it in, works just fine) Sir, it just let me into the system. Are you sure that you're not typing it in wrong?
Man: No, I'm doing it right! But whenever I type in my password, it's just little dots!
Me: ...That's a security precaution, sir. When you type your password, it shows up as asteriks or dots so that anyone else in the room can't see what you're typing.
Man: Stupid computers.
Me: (thinking) ....Wrong stupid.

Today was filled with morons like this guy. Ugh. Someone kill me.

So I've decided on a quad-core processor and 2 GB memory-but I'm using 2 1 GB sticks for when I want to upgrade again. I'm still choosing a good motherboard, and I think I want to fuck around with case mods. I saw this kickass steampunk case, but that's not really my style. And 25" LCD, or should I go dual screen?

I want to use Linux for the OS, but I need to find one that's Japanese-based. Maybe Red Hat has language options. I don't want to use Vista, that sucks.

So do I want to go to medical school or not? My advisor keeps telling me I have to decide.

I want to be in the research side of Audiology. I've fucked around with electronics since I was a kid, and improving hearing aids and cochlear implants is interesting...but there's no way anyone's going to hear as well as me. Everything I hear tells me that I need to have a medical degree to get really far in the field, even though I already have all the technical knowledge. How boring.

...And then there's cutting up cadavers in med school. And I have to go to graduate school at least, anyway.

And apparently Kouhei has already made our plans for the weekend. The clubs in Osaka are pretty good.

So, me. Name's Tanaka Youhei, formerly of Jyosei Shounan. I'm a sophomore Audiology major at Higashi, and I'm in a single, thank god. I'm on the school team, and I have better hearing than any of you.
